Group B of the Asia Minor, already made strange following TyLoo's disqualification, just became stranger as TheMongolz took down tournament favourites Renegades 16-13 on de_cache.

With Group B of the Asia Minor (taking place at IEM Taipei) already reeling from the news that TyLoo, who were considered to be in strong contention for advancing to the playoffs, had been disqualified due to Quanqing "⁠qz⁠" Wu having received a VAC Ban in 2013, the first match kicked off with Renegades taking on the Taiwanese Eat You Alive.

That game was a whitewash as Justin "⁠jks⁠" Savage & co. demolished the local team 16-2 on de_cbble and advanced to the winners' match, which the Mongolian TheMongolz had already made it into in lieu of TyLoo's disqualification.

Machinegun "un-XANTARES'ed" himself on LAN

The Mongolians had other plans in mind than just being the stock Asian team to make way for the tournament favourites, as Enkhtaivan "⁠Machinegun⁠" Lkhagva and Temuulen "⁠Zilkenberg⁠" Battulga went off on a tear against the Aussies, finishing up 11-4 on their T-side (with Machinegun at one point having a 18-2-4 score).

Despite a solid comeback attempt from Renegades that came in with too little, too late, TheMongolz eventually sealed the map 16-13 and advanced to the Asia Minor playoffs.
